Our Administrator
Welcome to Jackson Parish
Hospital. We are honored that you chose
our hospital for your healthcare needs, and we want to make your
stay as pleasant as possible. Our history
began with an ordinance being adopted by the Jackson Parish Police
Jury on June 8, 1959 allowing for the creation of a Hospital Service
District. Dedication and Open House of the Hospital was held on
Sunday, March 4,1962. It began with 37 beds with two admitting
Drs.—Dr. Gibbons and Dr. Robinson. At that time, we had the
following Physicians on the Medical Staff—Drs. W.S. Marshall, John
S. Robinson, George H. Robinson, George E. Gibbons, Robert L.
Firnberg, and A.E. McKeithen. Mr. James D. Putnam was our first
Administrator for the facility. The Hospital Board consisted of Mr.
Sam Thomas, Jr., Chairman, Mrs. Chet Steadman, Mr. O.M. Gresham, Mr.
H.C. Womack, and Mr. I. B. Peters. The Ambulance Service was
organized and began in June, 1969. An expansion project completed in
1973 enlarged the facility to include an additional 20 beds.
The Jackson Parish Hospital is
presently licensed for 49 hospital beds. We have grown to offer a
scope of services of which we are proud. We are committed to
providing quality patient care to all who need our
services.
We welcome the opportunity to
serve you.
